Experience opportunities to learn and grow in your faith!

Adult Bible Study

Sunday Bible Study meets for an hour on Sunday mornings between the 8:15 and 10:45 am services. This study is biblically grounded and addresses issues we face in today’s world. Bibles are available and refreshments are provided. Come Sunday and enjoy the clear teaching of God’s Word for the forgiveness of sins!

In addition, we also have Wednesday Adult Bible Study at 9:30 am in the Church Library and Wednesday Adult Catechism Enrichment Study at 7:00 pm in Fellowship Hall.

Sunday School

Advent’s Sunday School is designed for the Christian education of our children ages 3 and up. Sunday School takes place every Sunday at 9:30 am during the school year, and we host three Sunday Schools over the summer months; the summer dates can be found on our Advent Announcement Emails or buy contacting us.

We utilize the Concordia Publishing House “Enduring Faith” curriculum. Parents should bring their children to the Sanctuary for the opening at 9:30 am and then pick up their children from their classroom promptly at 10:30 am.

Fellowship

Advent Book Club – Share the latest trendy or pithy read with members of the group who meet at each others’ homes once a month.

Men’s Steak Night – Monthly Cookout and outings designed with men in mind, with a biblical message from Pastors Mackay and Grady.

Ladies’ Night Out – Share food, fun & fellowship with women of Advent during this lively monthly gathering, including timely biblical discussion with Pastor Mackay.

…more Annual Traditions, Events, and Fun can be found on our calendar page!

Confirmation

For 5th through 8th grade students, Confirmation Instruction begins each September.  This is a two year class where 1st and 2nd year students meet with our Pastors.

During this program, youth are taught the theology of the Bible and Luther’s Catechism so that it is understood and used as a valuable tool for Christian faith and daily life.  Students are also enriched in the faith with experiences that broaden their knowledge and abilities to confess and apply their faith.

First Communion

First Communion is a public rite of the church that follows Spiritual requirements for the public reception of the Lord’s Supper.  It is available to members (regardless of age) who meet these requirements.  Please contact the pastors, Pastor Mackay or Pastor Grady for more information.

New Members

In fulfillment of the Great Commission by Christ to go, baptize and teach, Advent offers instruction for adults in the foundational teachings of Christianity. Our new member education class prepares a person to join with the people of Advent in the teachings of Christ – a condition of membership.

This class can also be a refresher for those who wish to review our Lutheran Confessions. Interested adults are invited to come on Wednesdays to the Adult Catechism Enrichment Study from 7-8:30 pm in the Church Library or contact one of the Pastors for individual meetings.

Music

Advent is full of talented musicians. Dedicated Kantor & Organist, Phil Lehman and Director of Choirs, Deb Trewartha are the two master-minds behind our music programs. From singing and playing in each church service, to youth programs and special programs throughtout the year, this group is a great way to worship through music. Find out more information by contacting our Director of Choirs, Deb Trewartha.

Mom’s Morning Out

Child in playground

Bring your two-year-old children to Advent for play-based fun. Together we will work on both large/small motor activities, incorporating bible stories, the alphabet, colors, shapes and numbers.

We guide and teach through planning and delivering age appropriate lessons or educational activities which are introduced at developmentally appropriate levels.  Find out more information by contacting our Early Childhood Education Director, Deb Trewartha.

V.B.S

Vacation Bible School is held every summer for four days of fun-filled learning and activities. This is a great way to help your child delve deeper into the bible stories they hear every  Sunday.

Typically VBS is held in June and put on by our wonderful and experienced volunteers and Early Childhood Education staff. Curriculum is from Concordia Publishing.

Youth

VBS at Advent

Advent offers confirmation and youth instruction and fellowship for middle and high school students. Special classes to meet the needs of our students occur on Sundays in the Youth Room at 9:30 am.  Other fellowship and service opportunities are scheduled throughout the year.

Preschool

Advent is proud to offer Early Childhood Education using a Christian learning environment for children ages 2 through 5 in our Preschool.

The MISSION of Advent Preschool is “to share God’s grace through the education and enrichment of young children.”  Our curriculum incorporates Indiana State guidelines and hands-on learning; promoting motor skills and brain development. Our philosophy is that every child is a gift from God, full of potential and ready to be nurtured in mind, body and spirit.

Advent School

Advent School is expanding and offering an addition of 1st and 2nd grade classes at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.  We intend to grow our high-quality programs by adding additional grades thereafter.

The mission of Advent Lutheran School is to share God’s grace through the education and enrichment of young children. Advent is also committed to providing an academically exceptional program that equips the minds and souls of our students, not only for college or careers, but for life.
