- 1517 - Frederick the Wise
offered his subjects the opportunity of indulgence through his enormous collection
of relics in the Castle Church, prompting Martin Luther to post his Ninety-Five Theses
a day before the sale.
- November 7
- 1877 - Work within the Negro Mission,
established by the Synodical Conference, finally began.
- 1880 -
Johann Friedrich Pfotenhauer,
the president of the Missouri Synod from 1911 to 1935, was ordained in Odessa, Minnesota.
- November 8
- 1843 - Carl Christoph Schmidt was
born. Schmidt served as pastor at Holy Cross, St. Louis, and vice-president of the
Missouri Synod.
- 1849 - The cornerstone of
Concordia Seminary, St. Louis was laid.
- November 10
- 1483 - Dr. Martin Luther was born.
- November 12
- 1801 - Wilhelm Sihler was born.
Sihler, a proponent for Christian Education, was sent to America by Wilhelm Loehe and
helped found Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne.
- November 13
- 1922 - The Alabama Lutheran Academy
and College, Selma, Alabama, held its first classes.
- November 18
- 1838 - The last group of Stephanite
emigrants left Germany for America.
- 1894 - Concordia Teachers College,
Seward, Nebraska opened. The school was originally a prepatory department for
Concordia Teachers College, Addison, Illinois.
- November 20
- 1838 - The first group of Lutheran
missionaries arrived in Australia, forming the Klemzig settlement near what is today
Adelaide.
- November 24
- 1902 - The charter for the Aid
Association for Lutherans was issued.
