MIDI Music - MIDI (which stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface) music files are embedded in various locations throughout the pages. Live Update's "Crescendo" is a convenient browser plug-in to play these files. Playback fidelity is almost entirely dependent on the quality of the sound card in your computer....with a wave table equipped sound card, the fidelity is high, and the individual instruments can be easily discerned....i.e. - cymbals sound like cymbals, drums like drums, horns like horns, etc. With a simple FM card, however, the fidelity is greatly reduced.RealPlayer Audio and Video Clips - Advent does not have access to a dedicated RealServer, so the streaming sound and/or video clips are sent via "http" protocol. This means that the audio or video will sometimes break-up, particulary during times of heavy load or if you have a slow internet connection. To avoid this problem, it's often possible to buffer the entire clip file prior to playing. To set your RealPlayer for this option, click "View", then "Preferences", then the "Connection" tab, then select the "Buffer entire click up to available memory" option.
