You Struck The Right Note!
Miriam is first introduced in the Bible as standing guard over her baby brother Moses in the river. Her courage then gives us an indication of the kind of woman she was to become. Followed by Pharaoh's chariots, Miriam led the women to the Sea of Reeds. A strong wind backed up the waters and allowed them to cross the dry sea bottom. Then the sea came flooding back and swallowed up Pharaoh's detachments. Miriam experienced a renewed faith and confidence in God and, while playing a timbrel and dancing, led the women in the joyful song "Sing ye to the Lord".
