1. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the worship service and select an alb (special robe with hood) that will fit. If the alb is too long, beware of tripping upon the steps of the altar. It may be best to use the cincture to lift the bottom of the robe.
2. Make sure that you have a hymnal and bulletin placed at your seat.
3. Bring the crucifix back to the narthex. Please wait for the pastors by the church office or near their office area (just stand out of the way of the entering congregation).
4. Before the opening hymn step forward past the bulk head of the doorway and elevate the cross. The cross should be high enough so everyone can see it but also low enough so that you can handle it. Don’t go too fast. Don’t go too slow.
5. After the congregation has risen and starts to sing (note: not when the music starts), the crucifer will lead the procession. If there is a baptism, go to your lead location. Turn and face the baptism party,
6. When you arrive at the altar area, turn and face the congregation. Wait until the presiding pastor gives you the indication to move the crucifix back to its place in front of the banner. Take a seat on the pew located next to the crucifix stand.
7. Communion — When the elements have been consecrated, you will join the first group of communicants on the first step, facing the altar, and receive the Lord’s Supper.
