The Board of Elders shall:
1. Assist the Pastor in the spiritual care of the congregation, especially in brotherly admonition and discipline, and in promotion of the general welfare of the congregation and of Christ’s Kingdom within and beyond the congregation.
2. Exercise particular concern for the spiritual and physical welfare of the Pastor(s) and other called professional staff members, and make recommendations concerning the salaries of the Pastor(s), Director of Music and secretary, and arrange for the compensation for their services
3. Encourage faithful attendance and appropriate conduct at worship services and at the Lord’s Supper, through visiting negligent members to remind them of their Christian blessings and responsibilities.
4. Arrange for a Director of Music and assist the Director with the music program to complement the worship life of the congregation.
5. In the unforeseen and unexpected absence or incapacity of the Pastor, to secure qualified substitutes to preach, administer the Sacraments, and provide for other necessary pastoral care and to arrange for the appropriate compensation of such substitute.
6. When advisable, recommend calling an Associate or Assistant Pastor to the Church Council and the Voters Assembly in order to assure the continuity of pastoral care.
7. Oversee the worship life of the congregation and all groups that support worship arrangements, including the nursery, Altar Guild and other such functions.
8. Ensure that complete and accurate congregational membership records are compiled and maintained.
